As a Health and Wellness Consultant, I believe one of the greatest gifts we can give our children (or grandchildren) is teaching them basic kitchen skills; after all we all need to eat so why not get these kiddos off to a great start!

I recently had the opportunity to review a great kid’s cookbook called Kid Chef Junior by Anjali Shah. Anjali has done an excellent job with this kid’s cookbook. Cooking skills can benefit our little ones throughout their lifetime, and this book will provide a great foundation.

In the Cooking Class section, the book goes over some simple tips when following a recipe that kids and adults can benefit from. The recipes are coded for three levels of difficulty so it is easy to choose one that your kiddos can make. Each recipe is super easy to follow, includes the serving size, kitchen tools needed, obviously the ingredients, time required, and detailed instructions. Anjali has included breakfast, real meals, snacks, and dessert recipes in this cookbook; teaching kids the importance of nutritious food to nourish our bodies.

The photography is great, allowing your young chef to see what they will be making. Did you know your first “taste” of food is visual? Anjali did a great job of presenting the food in fun ways kids will enjoy. Speaking of fun, scattered through the pages are “Just for Laughs” jokes to help make kitchen time fun.

My oldest grandchild is almost four so we tried the Smashed Silly Face Guacamole. He loved smashing the avocado with the potato masher. Although he personally wasn’t too sure about onions in there, he enjoyed helping out. He did have a couple of bites of the guacamole (we have a one-bite rule at Gramma’s house), but it was his little brother that enjoyed eating it! When his mom picked him up, he told her he got to help because he was “big”.

Kid Chef Junior was released on October 9, 2018, order your copy today though Amazon. This would make a great gift for your kids or grandkids.

Did you have a favorite cookbook as a kid?

Be Blessed,

Heather
