June is here and with it Farmer’s Markets are open, CSAs are getting started, and fresh local produce is available. Here in Minnesota, we had a very cool spring with the weather just now starting to warm up. It seems like this spring it was either fairly cold or extremely warm. This week we are in the 80’s.
Here is what is in-season for the month of June.
- Asparagus – Cheesy Garlic Roasted Asparagus
- Broccoli – Caramelized Broccoli with Garlic
- Cabbage – Easy Garlic Cabbage
- Green Beans – Green Beans with Lemon and Garlic
- Green onions – Green Onion and Garlic Butter
- Greens – adding the fresh spring greens to your regular salad lettuce adds flavor and nutrients
- Kohlrabi – Roasted Kohlrabi
- Peas – Garlic Peas
- Radish – Radish Dip
- Rhubarb – Gluten-free Rhubarb Bars
- Spinach – Roasted Garlic Chicken with Sauteed Spinach and Onions
- Strawberries – Simple Strawberry Smoothie
Eating fresh, local food is great to support your health and your community. Yes, I intentionally chose a lot of recipes with garlic as it is super healthy and easy to add to your recipes.
Strawberries are one of my favorite on this list, especially freshly picked. What is your favorite item on June’s list? Hey, if you have a great recipe for any of these produce items, share in the comments!
Be Blessed and Be a Blessing,
Heather
