We usually take one vacation a year. This year we ventured to Colorado. On this vacation, it was the first time we stayed in an Airbnb.

Mount Sopris Retreat is located just south of the town of Carbondale, Colorado. Carbondale is at 6,171 feet elevation near Mount Sopris, in the plains of the Crystal and Roaring Fork Rivers. It is a really beautiful part of Colorado. Carbondale has an average of 295 days of sunshine a year, boasts low humidity, comfortable summers, and about 45 inches of snow per year.

Carbondale has so much to offer:

Summer there is biking, hiking, fly fishing, kayaking, skate boarding, and horseback riding.

Winter there is cross country skiing, snow showing, and snowmobiling.

The town also boasts agritourism, arts & culture, restaurants, shopping, and surrounding scenic drives.

The Airbnb where we stayed was called Mount Sopris Retreat, located just 10 minutes south of Carbondale at the base of Mount Sopris.

While we stayed here, we were able to enjoy a couple of sunrises from the patio of the suite.

This retreat is a great “base” camp for recreational enthusiasts that still desire the comforts of home after a day of adventures (I am not a camping type of girl!). I love having a full-sized kitchen when we travel. We like to be able to prepare some of our meals, especially breakfast. When we are out on our daily excursions, starting the day with a healthy, hearty breakfast keeps us nourished and strong. Preparing at least some of meals is not only healthier, it saves us money. Our kitchen was well stocked with the necessary utensils, baking/cooking ware, place settings plus we had coffee, organic teas, hot chocolate, and a Brita for filtering water.

The suite is decorated in what I would call Western Chic; the walls are finished with corrugated steel and 150-year-old barn wood. The artwork is beautiful and even the door knobs are unique.

Additional amenities include a spa shower, home gym, and a sauna. After a day of adventures, the sauna is a great way to relax. Hubby was able to enjoy it; for me our adventures had me in bed shortly after we would arrive back to the suite!

Our hosts provide not only awesome accommodations, but also many brochures of local things to do, local restaurants, and a book with local day hikes.

If you are looking for a spa-like retreat in the beautiful Carbondale area, I would highly recommend Mount Sopris Retreat.

Be blessed and be a blessing,
