We have all probably heard the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Those same apples can keep osteoporosis away, too. Phloridzin is a flavonoid found only in apples, especially in the peel. It turns out this flavonoid has some powerful components. The phloridzin provides protection by improving inflammation markers and oxidative stress. Inflammation exerts significant influence on bone turnover which can result in osteoporosis.

Our immune system needs to be strong to fight off both infectious disease and other forms of illness. Our immune system thrives on good nutrition, exercise, and spiritual and community connection. Part One of this series explained the importance of nutrition. You can check out that post here. In part two, I will share the importance of our lifestyle choices to our immune system. There are four areas that can strengthen our immune system. They are exercise, adequate sleep, stress reduction, and sun exposure.

The 2017-2018 flu season has been one of the worst since 2009. This season also started earlier, November instead of January, which means with all the holiday gatherings, it could spread much easier.
So what can we do to strengthen our immune system so it is better able to fight off influenza or any other disease? I will be doing a three-part series on strengthening the immune system. Our immune system thrives on good nutrition, exercise, and spiritual and community connection. The immune system needs harmony and balance in all three of these areas. So let’s start with nutrition.

This past fall I attended a conference hosted by the Weston A Price Foundation. The conference was awesome! One of the sessions that I attended was about homeoprophylaxis. This is not something that I had ever heard about, and I became very interested in learning more.
Homeoprophylaxis is the use of homeopathicially prepared remedies to protect individuals from the effects of infectious diseases. Homeoprophylaxis does not rely on antibody formation, but on changing the susceptibility of the child or adult to disease.
