Have you ever thought about the fact that the day we are born is also the day we start to age? Our early nutrition and activity can determine how healthy we age. As babies and children we are fed and nurtured so we can grow into healthy adults. Then the teen and young adult years come. We think we can eat anything we want, or like me, and decide to not eat and become anorexic. Well these choices can influence the health of our twenties, thirties, fifties, and on.

Juicing fruits and vegetables is popular. It seems to be a fad, off and on through time. My hubby and I decided to give it a try for two days right after Christmas. I know not really the most opportune time, but what better way to supposedly detox all those sweets we may have consumed through the Christmas season.

We all like to have something sweet once in a while, right? The challenge can be keeping it healthy. This Apple Cinnamon Muffin recipe is gluten free and has no granulated sugar. It is now September. Summer is winding down even though it officially doesn’t end till the 22nd this year. Kids are back in school, and we all are settling back into our non-summer routines. Here in Minnesota some of the trees are beginning to turn color and drop. It is my favorite season of the year; the color, the smells just everything about it.
September is also National Skin Care Awareness month so my posts this month will be related to skin, some way or another. Our skin is an awesome organ and it protects all our other organs, so we really do need to take care of it.

I don’t know about you, but changing my eating to a more healthy plan has been a process over time. I have found that doing small changes has worked well for me. One addition to my diet is seeds. Seeds may be tiny, but they are nutritional powerhouses loaded with healthy fats, essential fatty acids, fiber, protein, minerals, vitamin E, and other life-enhancing nutrients.

There are so many diets and eating plans available to us (Paleo, gluten-free, Mediterranean and the list goes on and on). It can be difficult to decide which one would be best for you. So how do you choose what is right for you? Well that is a great question.
